Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Roscommon Residential Home.

John Connor

Question:

133 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the need to build a seven day residential home for the mentally handicapped in Roscommon which would cost approximately £100,000; if he will give his support to this project; and when he will provide funding for it.

The provision of residential services for persons with a mental handicap in Roscommon is primarily a matter for the Western Health Board. A total of £1,018,000 has been allocated to the Western Health Board area for the development of new services for persons with a mental handicap in 1994. Proposals in relation to the expenditure of this funding have been received from the board. These proposals, which include provision for additional residential facilities in Roscommon, are currently under consideration by my Department.
