Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Arterial Drainage.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

31 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance if he will make the necessary funds available to have repairs carried out on the banks of the River Main, especially at Roscullen Island, and also at Laughtacalla; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The maintenance of embankments including those at Roscullen Island and Loughtacalla form part of the overall maintenance of arterial drainage works. There is a provision of £4.468 million for such works this year. Detailed surveys of the embankments in the Maine and Feale catchments are nearing completion at present. When these are completed the question of allocating any funds that may be required for repairs will be considered.
