Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Company Fraud Investigation.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

48 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice if, in regard to the affairs of a company (details supplied) the Garda have completed examination of the additional documentation held by a Dublin based firm of accountants to which the Garda secured access in December 1993; if a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that, arising from a Garda request to the Liquidator who was appointed to the company concerned, members of the Fraud Section examined additional available records relevant to the company. Other than the Garda file which was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions in September 1989, no further Garda file has been sent to the DPP resulting from the examination earlier this year of the additional available records.

However, I should add that the Garda investigation of this matter is continuing which includes ongoing liaison with the RUC.
