Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Indiscriminate Parking of Vehicles.

Tony Gregory

Question:

52 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, arising from her replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 69 and 65 of 26 April 1994 and 24 May 1994, if the Garda are concerned that there is a wider long standing problem whereby the person (details supplied) who owns the trailer left in Inisfallen Parade, Dublin 7, and still there is also owner of the 20' trailer left at Emmet Street, Dublin 1, on a road junction, seven trucks and trailers left at Portland Place/Portland Street North Junction, a 20' van/trailer at North Great Charles Street, Dublin 1, and two 20' trailers on Portland Street North, all of which constitute a danger to the public as they are unlit hazards causing obstruction, are eyesores and are environmentally destructive and as local residents have no confidence in the Garda due to their failure to deal with the problem over the years.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Commissioner is at present involved in the making of temporary rules to restrict the parking of such vehicles in the Dublin area.

As regards the particular vehicles referred to by the Deputy, the owner of the vehicles in question has been informed that he will be prosecuted for any breaches of the road traffic regulations detected.
