Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tree Felling Licence.

Bernard Allen

Question:

79 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry in view of his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 121 of Tuesday, 14 June 1994 to make way for the planting of oak and sycamore trees at Cooly, Maurraghue, between Leemount Cross and Healy's Bridge, Carrigrohane, County Cork, and in view of the fact that a substantial number of mature oak, sycamore and yew trees will have to be felled which will deface a scenic route to Blarney, the immediate steps, if any, he will take to prevent the felling of these trees.

As I already stated on 14 June 1994, in reply to an earlier question from the Deputy in this matter, a felling licence is necessary for the felling of trees in this area. My Department has not received any application for permission to fell trees on the lands in question. If any such application is received it will be dealt with in the normal manner.
