Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Aeronautical Telecommunications Installations.

Martin Cullen

Question:

112 Mr. Cullen asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if the Irish Aviation Authority has responsibility for deciding whether the design and operation of aerodromes and aeronautical telecommunications installations in Ireland comply with the standards set by Annexe 14 and Annexe 10 respectively of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO); and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Responsibility for the implementation of the provisions of Annex 10 (Aeronautical Telecommunications — Standardisation of communications equipment, systems and procedures) and Annex 14 (Aerodromes — Specification for the design and operation of aerodromes and heliports) of the Chicago Convention is vested in the Irish Aviation Authority under section 14 (1) (a) of the Irish Aviation Authority Act, 1993.
