Question:

198 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí stationed in Rathfarnham Garda station at 1 September 1980, 1 September 1985, 1 September 1990, and 1 September 1994. [425/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 195 and 198 together.

The Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda manpower and resources to individual areas, inform me that the Garda manpower at Rathfarnham station on 1 September 1980, 1 September 1985, 1 September 1990 and 1 September, 1994 was 42, 63, 35 and 47 respectively. The transfer of the District Headquarters from Rathfarnham to Tallaght in 1987 accounts for the reduction in manpower as indicated above on 1 September, 1990.

The Garda authorities also inform me that on 1 September 1980 there was one patrol car and two motorcycles assigned to Rathfarnham Garda station. On 1 September 1994, there were two patrol cars and one motorcycle assigned to the station.
