Written Answers. - Blackrock (Dublin) District Crime.

Question:

215 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the indictable and non-indictable crimes recorded within the Blackrock Garda station area in each of the years 1986 to 1993 and for the first six months of 1994 relating to house burglaries, car thefts, assaults, muggings, robberies from financial institutions and robberies from shops; and if he will give details of the areas in South Dublin that are policed by Blackrock Garda Station. [963/94]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought in relation to non-indictable offences is not readily available and could be obtained only by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.

As regards indictable offences reported in Blackrock sub-district, the information sought is as follows:*

Burglary —

Unauthorised taking of motor vehicles

Assaults

Muggings

Robberies from (i) shops (ii) financial institutions

*Note: Figures for 1986 are not on computer and, as such, are not readily available. Figures relating to robberies from shops and financial institutions during the period 1987-92 are being compiled separately and I will convey this information to the Deputy once it is to hand. Official figures for the first six months of 1994 are not yet available.
Gardaí attached to Blackrock Garda station police the areas of Booterstown, Blackrock, Seapoint, Monkstown Road, Newtownpark, Stillorgan and Mount Merrion.
