Written Answers. - Official Visits Abroad.

Michael Noonan

Question:

283 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Marine the official journeys abroad which will be undertaken by him or any Minister of State attached to his Department between now and the end of the year; the purpose of each journey; and the projected cost of each journey. [635/94]

I propose to undertake three official trips abroad between now and the end of the year. Assuming use of Air Corps transport, the costs are estimated as follows:

Meeting

Date

Projected cost

£

EU Transport Council*

21-22 November

1,200

EU Fisheries Council*

23 November

1,500

EU Fisheries Council

*Attendance at the two councils will be covered by one ministerial visit.
The position of Minister of State at the Department of the Marine is vacant.

Mary Harney

Question:

284 Miss Harney asked the Minister for the Marine the number of official trips abroad he has made since he took office; the number of persons that accompanied him on each of these trips; and the cost of the various trips. [766/94]

Since my appointment as Minister for the Marine I have undertaken 19 official trips at a total cost of £95,147. This represents costs of air fares and travel and subsistence expenses claimed to date. Costs of the use of the Government jet are not included.
