Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Occupiers' Liability Legislation.

Ivan Yates

Question:

381 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the decision by the Irish Farmers' Association to have a nationwide boycott of availability of their land for rural pursuits in view of the Government's inactivity in producing new legislation in relation to public liability; and the Government's timetable for introducing legislation in this area that will bring about a satisfactory resolution of this matter for all parties. [314/94]

I am fully aware of the position of the farming community in so far as the proposed new legislation on occupiers' liability is concerned. The Occupiers' Liability Bill is at a very advanced stage of drafting in the Attorney General's office and I expect that it will be published in the near future.
