Question:

392 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the specific guidelines set by the United Nations regarding submissions to the Women's World Conference; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [840/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 389, 390, 391 and 392 together.

Ireland's National Report for the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women was drawn up by a committee representing relevant Government Departments, the Employment Equality Agency and non-governmental organisations. It will be published this week. The report contains contributions from a number of non-governmental organisations. In addition, I intend to publish, in advance of the World Conference, other contributions from NGOs so that the broadest possible range of views can be expressed on the subject matter of the conference.

As the Deputy knows, departmental estimates for next year have yet to be determined but I will avail of appropriate opportunities to highlight the importance of this conference and I am aware that relevant NGOs intend to do likewise.
