Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Specialist Staff Appointments.

Mary Harney

Question:

450 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Health the number of consultants, special advisers or programme managers retained by his Department since this Government took office; the nature of the work they have undertaken; and the cost of their services. [787/94]

I have one special adviser and one partnership programme manager, each of whom is paid a salary of £42,470 per annum. The special adviser advises me on health policy and co-ordinates the Department's press office. The function of the partnership programme managers is to assist Ministers in managing and co-ordinating the achievement of the Government's objectives in the Partnership Programme for Government.

My Department retains a wide range of consultants in the course of its work. The information requested is being collated in my Department and will be furnished to the Deputy as soon as possible.
