The determination of the appropriate range of benefits to be provided to subscribers is primarily a matter for the VHI Board. However, I am aware that the board is presently conducting a comprehensive review of its product portfolio in preparation for the possible emergence of a competitive market in health insurance. My officials are in consultation with VHI concerning these planned developments and it is my intention to ensure that VHI will continue to provide to subscribers a comprehensive range of health insurance products at reasonable cost.
