Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Michael Noonan

Question:

474 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if she will extend the school bus service to cater for a person (details supplied) in Limerick. [352/94]

My Department has received an application for a home pick-up-set-down service for the pupil in question. Initial inquiries have indicated that such an extension would inconvenience eight other children on the existing school transport service to a considerable extent. In the circumstances, my Department has requested its transport agents, Bus Éireann, to investigate alternative possibilities to facilitate this pupil without giving rise to such a level of inconvenience to others. I will advise the Deputy of the outcome of the investigation as soon as it is complete.
