Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin School.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

500 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the uncertainty surrounding the future of St. Brigid's Primary School, The Coombe, Dublin 8, arising from the construction of the Coombe Relief Route and to the fact that an alternative site which had been identified by the school may no longer be available; and the plans, if any, for the future of the school. [657/94]

My Department is aware that the construction of the proposed Coombe relief route as planned will necessitate the relocation of St. Brigid's primary school on an alternative site. As the school is owned by the Holy Faith Sisters, the issues involved are primarily ones for discussion and resolution between the Sisters and the local authority concerned, Dublin Corporation.

My Department understands from Dublin Corporation that the Holy Faith Sisters have been assured that adequate alternative school facilities will be provided before the road scheme would affect the existing school. My Department also understands that Dublin Corporation officials will have further discussions with the Holy Faith Sisters and their advisers on the matter.
