Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Representation at EU Meeting.

John Bruton

Question:

97 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the reason Ireland was not represented by a Minister at the most recent E.U. Internal Market Council meeting. [106/94]

I represented Ireland at the most recent informal EU Internal Market Council which took place in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany on 23-24 September 1994.

The Deputy may be referring to the Internal Market Council which took place in Luxembourg on 16 June 1994. Ireland was represented at that meeting by the Irish Deputy Permanent Representative in Brussels which is normal practice in cases where the Minister is unavailable to attend. The majority of items on the agenda were technical Internal Market matters with no particularly important specific implications for Ireland.
