Question:

104 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Taoiseach the amount of money spent on alcohol in the last 12 months for which figures are available. [740/94]

The amount, estimated for National Accounts purposes, spent by private households on alcohol in the year 1993 was IR£2,085 million. This amount includes expenditure on alcohol consumed in public houses and restaurants as well as expenditure on alcohol consumed at home.
