183 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice, in respect of each of the legal years from 1988 to 1993 and to date in 1994, the number of custody applications that were submitted by separated married fathers and the number granted; the number of access applications that were made by separated married fathers and the number granted; the number of joint custody applications that were submitted by separated married fathers and the number granted; and the number of access applications and the number of guardianship applications by separated married fathers which are currently before the courts. District Court statistics in so far as they are available are as follows. The figures for the legal year 1993-94 will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as they come to hand.

Court statistics are not maintained in such a way as to give the remaining statistics sought by the Deputy. They could only be compiled by the expenditure of an inordinate amount of staff time which could not be justified.
