Vol. 445 No. 7

Written Answers. - Killybegs (Donegal) Water Supply Scheme.

Liz McManus

Question:

191 Ms McManus asked the Minister for the Environment if sanction has been given to minor water supply schemes from the Killybegs water supply scheme, County Donegal, as requested by Donegal County Council. [1123/94]

A proposal to provide a number of extensions to the Killybegs water supply scheme is under examination by my Department.

The question of funding for this proposal, and for water services projects generally, has been considered in the context of the provisions available under the National Development Plan. The high level of existing commitments and the demands of schemes already prioritised for investment account for all finance available to the water services programme at present. Therefore, it is not possible to provide funding for this scheme at this stage. However, the position will be regularly reviewed during the period of the National Development Plan.
