206 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if a decision has been taken about the operation of the turf-fired power station at Meenacuing, Gweedore, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1122/94]

The ESB has been requested to continue to operate the power station until early 1995, at which time the position will be finally reviewed taking into account the longer term peat supply situation and the cost of producing electricity at Gweedore.

I have agreed to meet the local Oireachtas Members and representatives of the workers and peat producers to discuss their concerns.
