Vol. 445 No. 7

Written Answers. - Asthma Sufferers.

Ivor Callely

Question:

212 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if there has been any noticeable increase in asthma in young people; if so, the possible cause for this; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [908/94]

The symptoms of asthma can range from mild to severe. Therefore those suffering from this condition may be treated in a variety of settings from general practitioner care to hospitalisation. For this reason and since asthma is not a notifiable disease, the information sought by the Deputy is not available to my Department.
