Vol. 445 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin AIDS Alliance.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

64 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the ongoing needs of the Dublin Aids Alliance; if he has satisfied himself that sufficient resources are available to the alliance to ensure the continuation of its programme without interruption; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1016/94]

Avril Doyle

Question:

117 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Health if he has received any recent indications from the Dublin Aids Alliance with regard to requirements for funding to the end of 1994; his views on whether the organisation will be able to meet its programme to the end of 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1013/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 64 and 117 together. Funding for organisations such as Dublin AIDS Alliance is provided by my Department through the Eastern Health Board on the basis that the services being provided by the organisation are relevant and appropriate to the client group for whom they cater. This is also a requirement that the organisation involved supply audited accounts which will demonstrate that public funds are spent in the manner intended. Earlier this year, the Eastern Health Board, in the absence of such audited accounts, was obliged to with-hold funding from Dublin AIDS Alliance. I understand that, following discussion with the Alliance, the board has allocated a total amount of £45,000 in 1994.
