Vol. 445 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Hospital.

Michael Lowry

Question:

79 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Health whether the Tallaght Hospital project is proceeding on schedule; if he has made the necessary funds available to ensure the completion of the project within that schedule; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [994/94]

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

95 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health if the planned Tallaght Regional Hospital will open and be operational in the year 1997; if the three hospitals involved will be closed and totally relocated in Tallaght during 1997; the full extent of the shortfall in EU structural funding; if the Government intends to fully make up the shortfall; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [759/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 79 and 95 together.

The construction of the Tallaght Hospital has been underway since October 1993 and I am pleased to report that building work is proceeding on schedule. It is expected that the three hospitals involved in the transfer of services, the Meath, the Adelaide, and the National Children's Hospitals will close and will relocate in Tallaght in 1997. I wish to confirm that the necessary resources will continue to be made available and that any shortfall in respect of EU Structural Funding will be provided so as to ensure that the Tallaght Hospital is completed in 1997 as planned.
