Question:

107 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health the number of women in the age group 50 to 64 who have had a mammography screen in each of the years 1991 to 1993 and to date in 1994. [256/94]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the number of women screened as part of the Eccles Breast Screening Programme. This study is being carried out in a defined catchment area that is North Dublin and Cavan-Monaghan representing both urban and rural populations. All women in the catchment area aged between 50-64 years are eligible to attend for screening. The number of women screened as part of the Eccles Breast Screening Programme in each of the years 1991 to 1993 and to date in 1994 is given in the following table:
