Written Answers. - Labour Force Survey.

Ivor Callely

Question:

171 Mr. Callely asked the Taoiseach the most recent labour force surveys on the total number of people in employment; the number unemployed; the anticipated figures for 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1079/94]

The most recent labour force survey related to April 1994 and preliminary results are expected to be published before the end of October.

The previous labour force survey estimated that in April 1993 there were 1,146,000 persons at work and 230,000 persons unemployed. The CSO does not make labour force forecasts for the year ahead.
