151 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of requests received in each of the last five years from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees on behalf of people seeking political asylum in Ireland; the background of each person on whose behalf such a request was made; the nationality of each such person; and the nature of the response from this State to the requests received. In the time available it was not possible for my Department to complete the necessary research in relation to such requests in the last five years to enable me to provide a definitive answer. When the information is available, which I expect will be soon, I will contact the Deputy.
