Vol. 446 No. 1

Written Answers. - Foreign Investment in Ireland.

Ivor Callely

Question:

97 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if there has been any noticeable improvement in investment funds in Ireland in 1994 and over previous years; if the EU Commission made any comments on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1708/94]

I understand the Deputy is referring to foreign direct investment in Ireland. The Industrial Development Agency Ireland has informed me that there has been a noticeable improvement in inward investment into Ireland in 1994 over 1993. In 1993, 42 projects were attracted to this country while in 1994 to date approximately 45 projects have been obtained.

I am not aware that the EU Commission have made any statement or comments in this regard.
