Vol. 446 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rural Resettlement Ireland Funding.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

63 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide finance to Rural Resettlement Ireland, County Clare, for the refurbishment of houses allocated to resettled applicants. [1823/94]

Rural Resettlement Ireland have proposed that my Department provide a revolving fund of £1 million for the acquisition and refurbishment of houses in rural areas for allocation to applicants for resettlement. I have considerable reservations about the viability and practical operation of such a fund and these have been conveyed to representatives of Rural Resettlement Ireland.
