210 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment when regulations will be made to allow the creation of taxi ranks in Mullingar and Athlone, County Westmeath, considering that a request for such regulations was forwarded by Westmeath County Council to his Department five years ago. [2126/94]

Regulations to implement a number of fundamental changes to the system governing the operation of small public service vehicles are being finalised at present and will be made at the earliest possible date. These will include provisions relating to the introduction of taxi services in new areas such as Mullingar and Athlone.
