The reason the person named was not paid the advance of the 1994 ewe premium was because of a query arising from the information provided by the flockowner about sheep losses. This matter has now been resolved and the advance will be paid shortly.

Question:237 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if the 1993 national reserve of suckler cow quota has been allocated; and, if not, if he will consider granting an additional quota to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [2075/94]
Apart from about 60 query cases, all applications for quota from the 1993 national reserve have been processed. The person named has been allocated five premium rights from the special reserve for small scale milk producers and a further one premium right from the main 1993 suckler cow reserve. His quota is, therefore, six premium rights. As he has sufficient quota to allow full payment for the six eligible suckler cows he applied for under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme, he can not be allocated further quota from the 1993 reserve.
He has, however, applied for 1994 suckler cow premium in respect of 12 cows and he may apply to be considered for an allocation of quota from the 1994 national reserve to cover those extra cows. Application forms for this reserve are expected to be available in the next few weeks and I have arranged to have one sent to him then.
