Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bray (Wicklow) Projects.

Liz McManus

Question:

288 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education the applications which were received from Bray. County Wicklow, for national lottery funding under the sports and recreational scheme; the total amount of the applications made in financial terms; and the amount granted. [1840/94]

A total of 74 applications under the recreational facilities scheme were received in respect of projects in County Wicklow. Of this total 13 applications were from the Bray area seeking grant assistance amounting to £0.440 million approximately. A list of the applications received from Bray is being circulated in the Official Report. Total grants amounting to £86,000 were allocated to 23 projects in County Wicklow, of which £2,000 was allocated to a project in Bray.

My Department received in excess of 1,400 applications nationally under the recreational facilities scheme and the total grant assistance sought in respect of development work and on projects amounted to £57 million approximately. In view of the limit on the funds available for the scheme this year it was possible to assist only a proportion of the projects and all applications were assessed on the basis of published criteria.
