Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Establishment of Family Courts.

Alan Shatter

Question:

65 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to implement the recommendations contained in the Law Reform Commissioner's paper on the establishment of family courts. [465/94]

The Programme for a Partnership Government contains an undertaking to "introduce whatever further special arrangements for dealing with family law cases may be needed in light of recommendations to be made by the Law Reform Commission on the subject of family courts".

The commission published a consultation paper on family courts in March 1994 and invited members of the public generally and those with a professional interest to submit their views on the commission's provisional recommendations not later than 1 July 1994.

When the commission's final report is received it will be given careful consideration prior to formulating proposals for the implementation of its recommendations in line with the undertaking in the Programme for a Partnership Government.
