Vol. 446 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Enterprise Boards.

Bernard Allen

Question:

41 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that many of the county enterprise boards have insufficient funds to deal with demand for their support; and if he will lift the current system of rationing of funds to these boards. [1265/94]

Following a review of grant approval trends to date, and in recognition of the considerable initial success of the county enterprise boards in facilitating local enterprise development through the county enterprise fund, I am pleased to inform the Deputy that I have secured the agreement of the Government for a raising of the current board grant approval thresholds under the scheme. There is no question of boards having inadequate funds to meet commitments arising from projects approved.
