Vol. 446 No. 4

Written Answers. - Glencolmbcille (Donegal) Sewage Treatment Scheme.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

133 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the revised preliminary drawings for the Glencolmbcille sewerage scheme; the costing of the scheme; the present position with regard to funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2283/94]

Revised contract documents for the scheme, estimated to cost £1.5 million, are under consideration in the Department.

The question of funding for this scheme, and for water and sewerage services projects generally, has been considered in the context of the resources available under the National Development Plan. The high level of existing commitments, and the demands of schemes already prioritised for investment, account for all finance available to the water services programme at present. It is not therefore possible to provide funding for this scheme at this stage. This position will, however, be regularly reviewed during the period of the National Development Plan.
