Vol. 446 No. 5

Written Answers. - Lee Road (Cork) Watermarks.

Máirín Quill

Question:

71 Miss Quill asked the Minister for the Environment when his Department will sanction a £2.75 million proposal for the upgrading of the Lee Road Waterworks, with a view to modernising the plant and ensuring the quality of drinking water for the people of Cork. [2330/94]

A preliminary report for this scheme is under consideration in my Department.

My Department has provided some £30 million for investment in water and waste water services in Cork city and county in the five years to 1995. Priority now attaches in the Cork Corporation programme to the development of the major waste water treatment scheme for the city. The possibility of supporting other smaller projects within the corporation's programme will be regularly reviewed during the period of the National Development Plan.
