Vol. 446 No. 5

Written Answers. - FÁS Trainees' Allowances.

Joe Costello

Question:

92 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the increases that have occurred in 1994 in the allowances to FÁS trainees on CYTP/community response courses; the increase that has occurred in the grants for the payment of supervisors in CYTP/community response courses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2461/94]

The standard weekly allowance payable to FÁS trainees, including those on the Community Youth Training Programme/Community Response Programme have been increased this year as follows:

Trainees Aged

1993-94 Rate

1994-95 Rate

15-16

£24.22

£25.00

17

£30.26

£31.20

18 plus

£59.20

£61.00

In the case of those participants whose social welfare payment had, immediately prior to their participation, been higher than the standard FÁS training allowance, the differential is made up by FÁS. Furthermore, a training bonus of £10 per week for trainees with dependency status is also payable. The maximum rates applicable to CYTP and Community Response supervisors have also been increased from £219 per week to £225 per week.
