Vol. 446 No. 6

Written Answers. - Use of Footpaths.

Seán Haughey

Question:

123 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment his views on whether motorcyclists and cyclists riding on footpaths constitute a danger to pedestrians; and his further views on whether the law in this regard is adequate. [2536/94]

The driving of vehicles, including pedal cycles, on footways is prohibited under the Road Traffic General By-Laws, 1964. I am satisfied that these provisions are adequate. Enforcement, of course, is a matter for the Garda.
