Question:

128 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment the proportion of work which it is essential to have carried out by a contractor to enable people building their own houses to qualify for the new house grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2705/94]

To qualify for a new house grant, a contractor (s) registered for VAT, holding either a current From C2 or tax clearance certificate, must be engaged in the construction of the house. The VAT registered work, including materials purchased, must have a value of not less than £15,000.
