Vol. 446 No. 7

Written Answers. - Farm Office Facility.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

101 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry his views on whether it is reasonable that farmers discuss their private business with a Department official in a public office in the Cavan Agricultural Office; if a private office should be made available for this purpose; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2481/94]

As there are 6,661 herdowners in Cavan, the Deputy will appreciate that it is not practical to provide private office facilities for all interviews with individual farmers. For discussions of a confidential nature, a private office is made available.

Arrangements are at present in train to provide facilities at the reception counter which will improve the existing arrangements for farmers to discuss their business with officials.
