Vol. 446 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Enda Kenny

Question:

162 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive sheep premium payments. [2917/94]

The person named applied under the 1994 ewe premium scheme for payment on 84 sheep. As he has a quota of only 47 rights, payment of the advance of the 1994 premium was based on that number and payment was made on 4 August 1994. The balance of the premium will be paid next March/April as soon as the instalment is fixed by the EU.

Question:

164 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when cattle headage payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [2930/94]

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 cattle headage scheme is being processed at present and payment will issue shortly.

Delay in making this payment has arisen because of a change of ownership of the herdnumber and a problem with the area aid application. Both of these matters have now been resolved.

Michael Creed

Question:

165 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will review the decision of his Department to refuse an EU retirement scheme pension to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that the deed of transfer was not stamped until March 1993. [2932/94]

The application for a pension under the EU retirement scheme by the person in question was refused on the grounds that the deed of transfer submitted for the purposes of the scheme was signed on 22 June 1992. Under the conditions of the scheme only farmers who ceased farming and transferred their lands on or after 30 July 1992 are eligible. The fact that the deed of transfer was stamped by the Revenue Commissioners in March 1993 does not have a bearing on the question of eligibility.
