189 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education if an application has been received in her Department for a grant for phase 2 of Gartan Outdoor Education Centre, Churchill, County Donegal; the date the application was received; and if a grant has been allocated so that the project can commence without further delay. In November 1993 my Department received an application for funding from County Donegal Vocational Education Committee in respect of Phase 2 of Gartan Outdoor Education Centre, Churchill, Co. Donegal.

Phase 2 of the project comprises the provision of a two storey accommodation block as an extension to the existing centre at a cost of £300,000. The question of grant assistance for this project is under consideration in my Department in the context of the funds available under the major sports facilities programme.

A decision in the matter will be conveyed to the County Donegal Vocational Education Committee as soon as possible.

A grant of £150,000 was provided in respect of Phase 1 of the project, which comprised the extension and refurbishment of the existing complex which was completed in early 1994. The grant of £150,000 has been paid by my Department.
