298 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health the number of patients transferred from St. Loman's Hospital, Mullingar, County Westmeath, to hospitals or institutions in County Longford in each of the last ten years. [3118/94]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 297 and 298 together.
The Midland Health Board is responsible for the provision of psychiatric services in St. Loman's Hospital, Mullingar. The hospital serves as an in-patient facility for the Longford/Westmeath catchment with a population of 94,000. Until 1987 it also provided in-patient services for the Meath catchment. In 1988-89, 98 beds were de-designated under the Mental Treatment Act 1945 and are now in use for the care of the mentally handicapped.
The information which the Deputy requires and which has been furnished to me by the Midland Health Board is set out in the following tables.
