Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance.

Bernard Allen

Question:

306 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in Cork is being refused disabled person's maintenance allowance which she had until June of 1993, when she took up a job as a FÁS supervisor on a social employment scheme as, when she reapplied, she was told that she would not be entitled because, in the meantime, she had married; and the reason she is being refused the allowance in view of the fact that her husband is only getting £20 per week extra for his wife in a social employment scheme in which he is involved. [3328/94]

Payment of disabled person's maintenance allowance in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the Chief Executive Officer, Southern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
