Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Ratoath (County Meath) School.

Mary Wallace

Question:

318 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the population explosion in the Parish of Ratoath, County Meath where plans are in progress to build an additional 450 houses and that 100 of these houses have been occupied in recent weeks; if the planned extension to Ratoath primary school will be ready for the increased intake expected for September 1995 as the existing school of 250 pupils which is located, at present, in two different buildings and in a prefab would be unable to cater for the huge influx of people which commenced in the year 1994 and is expected to continue in the year 1995; the costing of the proposed extension; and the classroom facilities that will be provided. [3555/94]

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

342 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the increasing pupil numbers attending a national school (details supplied) in County Meath; if her Department has approved the plans for an extension to this national school; if the provision of the extension to the school will be included in the 1995 Estimates; when work will commence on the extension; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3133/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 318 and 342 together.

My Department has given approval in principle for an extension to Ratoath national school. Although the number of building projects which will be placed in 1995 cannot yet be determined, my Department is drawing up a list of priority projects for consideration in 1995. Ratoath national school building project will be one of those considered for the new priority listing.

As the proposed extension is only at the initial stages of processing it is not possible to indicate a construction startup date.
