Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Gaeilscoil Uí Riada.

Michael Creed

Question:

336 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the unsatisfactory conditions under which Gaelscoil Uí Riada is presently forced to operate; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that a site for a new school was purchased four years ago; and when her Department will give approval for a new school. [3110/94]

I am aware that the temporary premises in which Gaelscoil Uí Riada is currently located is inadequate for the number of pupils and teachers in the school.

The question of how best to provide satisfactory permanent accomodation for the school, was under consideration in my Department for some time.

Taking all factors into account, I have recently approved the allocation of funds for the construction of a new permanent building for the Gaelscoil on the site purchased by my Department for that purpose in 1990.

It is proposed that the building of the school will commence as soon as possible in 1995.
