Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Killinarden (Dublin) Youth Project.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

115 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, in view of the success of the Killinarden Engages Youth project in Tallaght, if she will extend the scheme to cover the Brookfield area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3006/94]

The Killinarden Engages Youth (KEY) Project was established in Killinarden in July, 1991, and was extended to include the Fettercairn area of Tallaght in autumn, 1993. As part of the package of law and order measures which I announced late last year, I am providing an additional £100,000 each year between 1994 and 1997 to establish new community-based projects, such as KEY, throughout the country.

The existing community-based initiatives are under review at present with a view to extending them to other areas throughout the country. The Deputy's request that the KEY Project be extended to include the Brookfield area will be taken into account as part of this review.
