Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Firearms Act Amendment.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

131 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, in view of the relaxing of the security situation, the plans, if any, she has to amend the Firearms Act to meet the needs of gun clubs affiliated to the National Association of Regional Game Councils. [3212/94]

I have no plans to introduce legislation providing for such amendments to the Firearms Acts, 1925 to 1990.

The National Association of Regional Game Councils were in touch with my Department earlier this year about certain changes which they proposed to the Firearms Acts. It has been explained to them that their proposals can be accommodated within the framework of existing legislative provisions.
