Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Sewage Treatment Plant.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

190 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Environment the current position of Williamstown sewerage scheme, County Galway; if his offer of £500,000 is sufficient to construct a sewage treatment plant to modern specifications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3158/94]

My Department has requested Galway County Council to submit a revised proposal for a sewage collection and treatment system for Williamstown and a response is awaited. While the quality of final effluent will have to comply with certain minimum standards, the council still have considerable discretion regarding the technical specification of the treatment works.
