Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Compensation to Residents.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

203 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for the Environment whether compensation will be paid to residents of local authority flats in Dublin who replaced the windows in their homes out of their own resources prior to the refurbishment programme currently being carried out by Dublin Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3459/94]

Expenditure by a local authority under my Department's Remedial Works Scheme and the "once-off" window replacement programme may only be made in respect of approved refurbishment work carried out by the authority to their rented dwellings.

The question of a local authority payment from their own resources in an individual case of the type mentioned would be a matter for consideration by the authority.
