Question:

97 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Defence the number of personnel currently employed in the air sea rescue division; and the corresponding number for each of the years 1990 to 1994. [3619/94]

At present the number of Air Corps personnel qualified to carry out helicopter rescue operations is 57. Technical support for all helicopter operations including search and rescue is provided by 93 Air Corps personnel based in Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel. The precise figures for the years 1990 to 1993 are not readily available but would be somewhat lower than the current figure.
